There is an old saying... "The wealthiest people have a the largest Rolodex. (Network)"
When many of us first started marketing
online, we soon learned that it was critical to network with others in
our industry to help us learn and grow. For example Joel Peterson had a
goal to meet 1 successful Internet Marketer a week when he first got
started. He new that by meeting these marketers he would lead to great
things.
Well that is exactly what happened. As he
met new people in his industry...this led to meeting even MORE people in
the industry and many of them already had BIG EMAIL lists. Soon some
of these marketers where promoting for him! This is some of the easiest
and cheapest traffic to get online!
Now an important lesson to learn here!
Joel didn't start out meeting people just so they would help him. He
just wanted to meet new people and build up solid relationships with
them in his business. They part where they "Helped Him" came over
time.
If you have the goal of helping others FIRST the rewards will come to you later. Have patience.
Here are some of the things you can do to Network and goals you can set for yourself:
- Meet 2 new people in your industry each week. The best ways to do this are on Facebook, Linkin, and attending Events.
- Make 2 introductions a week. Introduce your network to each other. This works magic because many of these people will be compelled to introduc you to their network.
- Keep track of everyone you meet in a simple Contact Manager and write notes about them. Remember birthdays and special occasions and send cards and gifts.
- Always provide value to your network before every asking for something.
Over time your network will grow and grow and some of these people will join your business.
Here is an example... Joel Peterson met
Bill McIntosh at an event. They were friends for a while but never did
any business together. They kept in touch on Facebook, email and Joel
made several introductions to Bill.
One day Joel picked up the phone and let
Bill know of a new company called PureLeverage and that he might want to
check it out. Bill joined and in one week sponsored over 100 Resellers and is one of the leaders in this company now.
Building your personal Network is worth it.
